Restoring the Kingdom: Bigger than Politics

"While He was together with them, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for the Father's promise. "This," He said, "Is what you heard from me; for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now." So when they had come together, they asked Him, "Lord, are you restoring the Kingdom of Israel at this time?" He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or periods that the Father has set by His own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1: 4-8 Observations: Who said what? Jesus commanded the disciples not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for the Father's Promise.  Jesus reminds the disciples that He told them that they would be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.  The disciples asked Jesus if that meant tha...

The book of Acts

Good Morning My Dears, I have been fighting with the Holy Spirit for some time now about switching to the book of Acts. I kind of have OCD about finishing things that I start (and I kind of have this INTENSE love for the book of Genesis), so there is this huge part of me that wants to keep on with book of Genesis as I have been. There's another part of me that feels like Holy Spirit is beckoning me to the book of Acts because there are blessings in that book that He wants to impart to me. So, per usual happenings, I am finally submitting to that call and trusting that He will bring me back to Genesis in His perfect timing :). So... the book of Acts starts like this... "I [Luke] wrote the first narrative, Theophilus, about all that Jesus began to do and teach  until the day He was taken up, after He had given orders through the Holy Spirit to the apostles He had chosen. After He had suffered, He also presented Himself alive to them by many convincing proofs, appearing t...

"He did everything that God commanded him."

"Noah, however, found favor in the sight of the LORD.  These are the family records of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among his contemporaries; Noah walked with God. And Noah fathered three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.  Now the earth was corrupt in God's sight, and the earth was filled with wickedness. God saw how corrupt the earth was, for every creature had corrupted its way on the earth. Then God said to Noah, "I have decided to put an end to every creature, for the earth is filled with wickedness because of them; therefore I am going to destroy them along with the earth.  "Make yourself an ark of gopher wood. Make rooms in the ark, and cover it with pitch inside and outside. This is how you are to make it: The ark will be 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet high. You are to make a roof, finishing the sides of the ark to within 18 inches of the roof. You are to put a door in the side of the ark. Make it with lower, middle, and upper decks.  "...

Marriage by Faith :)

Marriage By Faith (Different Parts written between 2010 and 2012) Part I Most of you who have stayed in contact with me know that the Lord has done a lot of purifying in my heart concerning the matter of marriage during the past two years. Two years ago, i was single, scared to death of a broken heart, and too stubborn and proud to give up my commitment to singleness, even when i felt like God was telling me to. Today, I am happily engaged to a man who is so perfect for me that I didn't know such a person could exist... and it's all thanks to my Creator (because he's the one who said 'It's not good for man to be alone'). The story is a very long one, and i don't often have a lot of free time, but I am going to try and write it out during the little free time that i do have... so please bear with me as it is a piece by piece process. Part II: Well, as i think about it, the best place to start is in my ninth grade Bible class. Mr V. (our Bible tea...

God is patient!

"When the LORD saw that man's wickedness was widespread on the earth and that every scheme his mind thought of was nothing but evil all the time, the LORD [consoled Himself for having made] man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. Then the LORD said, "I will wipe off from the face of the earth mankind, whom I created, together with the animals, creatures that crawl, and birds of the sky -- for I [console myself for the wicked that has come from having] made them."  [Gen 6:5-7 HCSB] *Most translations say that the LORD was sorry He had ever made humans (or regretted it), but the English translation is clunky. I looked up the original Hebrew word and it most often means "to console oneself." I chose to input this translation because it seems more in line with God's character (from my understanding). Observations: Who did what?  Humans had thoughts that were nothing but evil all the time.  The Lord saw man's wickedness.  The Lord co...

Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely

"Methuselah was 187 years old when he fathered Lamech. Methuselah lived 782 years after the birth of Lamech, and he fathered other sons and daughters. So Methuselah's life lasted 969 years; then he died.  Lamech was 182 years old when he fathered a son. And he named him Noah, saying, "This one will bring us relief from the agonizing labor of our hands, caused by the ground the LORD has cursed." Lamech lived 595 years after Noah's birth, and he fathered other sons and daughters. So Lamech's life lasted 777 years; then he died.  Noah was 500 years old, and he fathered Shem, Ham, and Japheth. When mankind began to multiply on the earth and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of mankind were beautiful, and they took any they chose as wives for themselves. And the LORD said, "My Spirit will not remain with mankind forever, because they are corrupt. Their days will be 120 years." The Nephilim were on the earth both in tho...

Walking with God

"Enosh was 90 years old when he fathered Kenan. Enosh lived 815 years after the birth of Kenan, and he fathered other sons and daughters. So Enosh's life lasted 905 years; then he died.  Kenan was 70 years old when he fathered Mahalalel. Kenan lived 840 years after the birth of Mahalalel, and he fathered other sons and daughters. So Kenan's life lasted 910 years; then he died.  Mahalalel was 65 years old when he fathered Jared. Mahalalel lived 830 years after the birth of Jared, and he fathered other sons and daughters. So Mahalalel's life lasted 895 years; then he died.  Jared was 162 years old when he fathered Enoch. Jared lived 800 years after the birth of Enoch, and he fathered other sons and daughters. So Jared's life lasted 962 years; then he died.  Enoch was 65 years old when he fathered Methuselah. And after the birth of Methuselah, Enoch walked with God 300 years and fathered other sons and daughters. So Enoch's life lasted 365 years. Enoch walked with...
